Saturday 8th November
West Exe 2 Ottery St Mary 2
Ottery travelled away to third placed West Exe, Ottery dominated from the
start keeping the ball really well with Charlie Norris opening the scoring
with a great individual goal,Ottery didn't capitalise on there many chances
they created and even failed to convert a penalty, Just before halftime James
Billing scored his first of the season and ottery's second.
The second half started as the first had finished with Ottery pushing for more
goals and were unlucky to concede when West Exe hit them on the break,Ottery
again failed to capitalise on the many chances they created and again failed
to convert from the spot,Then in the final five minutes West Exe were awarded
a penalty and took there opportunity to level the scores.
West Exe would probably be the happier with the one point leaving the Ottery
boys to think over there numerous missed chances of taking the three points.
Man of the Match Ryan Tucker-Swift for a solid performance at the back!
Saturday 11th October
Hemyock 0 Ottery St Mary under 11s 4
Ottery travelled away to Hemyock and after a disappointing performance at home
last week they were looking to regain some confidence. Both teams started well
and Hemyock were unlucky not to have taken the lead but for a great save from
Nathan Gooding. Ottery looked to be regaining some of their confidence and
were passing the ball well and twenty minutes in Ottery took the lead when
Hemyock half cleared the ball leaving Jacob Thomas to strike the ball from
just outside the area with a unstoppable shot.
Hemyock went all out for the equaliser and Otterys' defenders, Ryan
Tucker-Swift, Maati Galan and Archie Jenkins, were solid and showed they were
up for the challenge of the Hemyock attack holding out till the break.
The second half started with Hemyock still pushing for the equaliser. Jordan
Rodgers broke away knocking the ball into Oliver Bird, who was bought down for
a free kick to Ottery. Connor Swingler stepped up and drove the ball hard and
low for Otterys' second.
Hemyock were determined to get one back but Ottery came away again with
Swingler breaking down the left, taking on the defender and cutting back
inside to finish well to the keepers right, for Otterys' third. Otterys'
strikers, Charlie Norris and James Billing, worked hard up front and Norris
was unlucky not to get on the score sheet when the keeper fumbled his shot and
the defender sliced his clearance for Otterys' fourth.
Man of the match, Archie Jenkins, was a rock in defence and showed the
importance of a good attacking full back.
Ottery 0 Culm Eagles 7
Ottery were at home for their second game of the season against Culm Eagles.
The match started at a nice fast pace with good play from both sides. Both
teams passed the ball well and Culm took the lead on the counter, with a well
taken goal.
Ottery again applied pressure pushing for the equaliser and were punished for
not taking several chances with a second goal from Culm. Ottery battled on
trying to pull one back but were shocked by a third goal from Culm just before
half time and Otterys heads dropped.
The20second half started with an early goal for Culm which finished Ottery
off. They were unable to string any passes together and were always second to
the ball. Culm finished strong adding another three goals before the final
whistle blew.
Man of the match Nathan Gooding never gave up, making some great saves, only
to see Culm’s strikers react first when the ball went loose.
Otterys good start was sent crashing, letting the boys know they need to give
it their all to get back on track.
Feniton 0 Ottery under11s 11
The under 11's
first game of the season saw them travel away to Feniton with some new faces.
The first half started pretty even and Feniton were unlucky to concede from a
well taken goal from Charlie Norris, with the game staying fairly level
until just before half time Charlie Norris scored Ottery's second goal.
The second half saw Ottery taking control and starting to pass the
ball around. They were rewarded with two well worked goals from Ryan
Tucker-Swift, working well in midfield with Connor Swingler, who also scored
two goals.
Jacob Thomas and Jordan Rogers also both scored one goal a piece, working
tirelessly down the wings. All the defence, Archie Jenkins, Maati Galan,
James Billing and Lewis Rawlinson worked hard, linking well with the midfield
and when Ottery's goal was threatened, Nathan Gooding was unbeatable. Man of
the match Charlie Norris scored another three goals for a great start to the
season for Ottery St Mary.
