 Pre-season friendly.....

Ottery St Mary 4-1 Millbrook

Saturday 14th August Kick-off  3pm

At Washbrook Meadows

Dane's Review of the month ......

Good evening and Welcome to my first review of the season.

To say my first month in charge at Ottery has been busy is an understatement. We started training at the end of June and I’m delighted with the squad I have built in the time since, I have made some wonderful signings which should make us a force in the league next season. My backroom staff is taking shape as well, with Andy Johnstone as my assistant Manager and Local Man David Weeks taking up the position of player coach. However we are still in search of someone to help us out with the medical bag.

I had a number of targets at the start of the summer and I’m delighted to report that I have secured all but one of those. These players will bring a massive amount of quality to the club and I look forward to seeing the team in action.

Last weekend we played in the Sidbury Pre-Season Cup, our semi-final match ended with a 5-0 win in our favour, some of the football played by the players that day was outstanding, backed up by one of our goal, of which every player in the side touched the ball before it was tucked away. In the final on Sunday I experimented with a different system and after 20 minutes it was clear that it hadn’t worked as we found ourselves 3-0 down. But the players dug deep and got the scores level and were knocking on the door for a winner when Sandhurst broke away to get a last minute winner. I was delighted with our 2nd half performance. To boss and bully a team that play at step 5 like we did was so good to see.

With the friendly’s coming thick and fast in the next month there will be more to feedback in my next report next month . I hope many of you will get up and support the team in the coming weeks, as I’ve said before to have as many people supporting the team as possible really helps the players on the day and gives them so much encouragement.

Regards

Dane

Staverton 0-1 Ottery St Mary

Michael Burke Was on target in the Otters latest pre-season warm up game.

Michael Burke Joins from Liskeard Athletic

Otters make more signings...

Dane Bunney made four new signings for the Otters this week.

Ben Ferguson - from Vospers - Central Midfielder
Craig Roberts - From Elburton Villa- Left wing
Michael Burke- Liskeard Athletic - Central Midfielder
Simon Parnell- Plymouth Parkway - striker

the Michael burke signing has caused a stir in Plymouth with managers questioning how I've managed to persuade Michael to Ottery. He had offers from Bodmin town and Saltash united , but signed on the dotted line for Ottery St Mary . Other great news on the player front is we have retained Tony Ali!! it has taken me 5 weeks to do this but i have persuaded him to stay and will be the club captain !!!

'' the quality of the signings made this summer should put us in a position to compete in all competitions, we have a squad of winners who wont accept anything less then 1st place in any competition we enter''

we are very close to finalising the squad now , hopefully by the end of this weekend , the squad will be complete

Otters make new signings

The big news today is the signing of Lance Easton from Saltash United . He has turned down a big money offer to come and play for the Otters and will be a big player for us , Lance is a striker come winger

Other new players joining the club include

Richard jones - left back - from millbrook
dan gill - right back - from millbrook
darryl Johnston- centre half - from millbrook striker - ash mcdermid - alphington and midfielder - jack barnden

Otters boss Dane Bunney said ..."I am still speaking to a number of other quality players so there is more quality to come , I'm very impressed with what was already at the club, good times ahead if I sign the players I'm talking to !!!!

The New Manager

Dane Bunney

When I came up to Ottery St Mary to be interviewed for the position of the football manager I was amazed at what a lovely town you guys have , I was pleasantly surprised at the activity and hustle and bustle in the town centre.
When I arrived at the ground I was very impressed with the facilities at the clubs disposal.
In my time as Millbrook Manager I considered Millbrook a village were people simply go and wait to die. There is no activity, no business’s, you see no-one as you walk up the main street.
However I was shocked to hear that the Ottery residents were still short on numbers supporting their local club on match days.
In the coming weeks I will start to assemble your squad for the 2010/11 season. We have a number of friendlies to be played at home (dates are on the website). The first home league game for the club is on Wednesday 1st September.
I plan over the next 3 seasons to build you a team for you to be proud of and exciting to watch, the aim is to get the club out of this league within that time. Being from Plymouth I won’t be leading a Plymouth invasion of players, I will be bringing some up yes. But the club will retain identity by using local players.
So please come along, bring a friend and cheer the lads on it makes a massive difference to them when they go out on to the pitch and see the local people driving them forward. This club is a sleeping giant of local football and together we can wake it up !!!
